Indonesia

Things to do - general

Located in South East Asia, Indonesia is massively blessed with a total of 17,504 islands. Of those, 7,870 of them have names, while the remaining 9,634 have never been named. This goes to show the beauty this country poses.

The country recognizes the importance of maintaining the natural resources hence the emphasis to preserve this beautiful land. Indonesia covers a land area of 1.91 million km2, while the ocean area is 6.279 million km2.

Indonesia is home to one of what is regarded the best beaches in the world. Its no surprise that the South Eastern country amassed 9.73 million international visitors in just 2015 alone. Lots of opportunities for hotels, restaurants and other recreation centres. Majority if the tourists came from Malaysia, China, Australia and Japan.

Visa requirements

Indonesia is one of the most visited countries and partly that's because of their not so strict visa requirements.

If your country happens to be listed on this list of unrestricted countries then you can just jet into Indonesia and get a visa on arrival.

A tourist Visa will go for $25 while a transit visa of 7 days will go for only $10.

Sports & nature

Depending on which part of Indonesia you are, you will find that there are lots of sports to engage in. Even better, most of these are not the mainstream sports you may catch on TV.

Some of the sports locals enjoy in there pass time include:

  • Boat racing
  • Kite flying
  • Annual bull races after the harvest season by the Madurese
  • Stone jumping is a sport in Nias
  • Sepak takraw (very common)
  • Pencak silat is a martial art, similar to karate, practiced men and women.
  • Lots of diving in Bali.

However there is plenty of gyms, swimming pools and other modern sports pretty much any where you go. These are readily available at every corner.

** Cock fighting was recently banned and is considered illegal. It however continues to happen. We always discourage our tourists from engaging in this practice.**
